[The Inkwell is an important place for those having a shitty time, and practically anyone with Retrospec can be considered 'having a shitty time' right now. Sometimes, you just need to have some booze named after famous authors who probably also had a shitty time. That's how famous authors are.

Shuji's book is science fiction, not romance, but he certainly has a comment when she speaks up.]

[BETTER LATE THAN NEVER - but Baren's been busy lately. Regains and memories and shit means that he's skipped out on a couple of photoshoots. His agent isn't happy. That's why the retaliation is simple - Baren doesn't have social media, which is why he can't stop a campaign from his agency that insists on a special opportunity. Enter and you might be the lucky winner that can go to dinner with the one and only Baren Kaiyou!

The notice is slammed literally in Baren's face - no arguments or else he gets dropped.

And despite hating being told what to do, Baren hates the idea of being rejected even more. So that's why he shows up at this restaurant - through the back so that he doesn't attract too much attention - and he sighs. He wasn't given a name, which bothers him enough, just a table to show up at.

He brushes irritatedly at his bangs, but... waits.

[Shuji has had a rough couple of days. Blue and green disappearing aren't even the worst that's happened to him this month, and they're bad enough without memories of-

Shuji's not going to think about that, he's going to think about how he was lucky enough to win dinner with Baren Kaiyou. No matter what else is going on, he has to be absolutely the luckiest person right now.

He's dressed up nicely (though with more grey than he would like, but it was on short notice) and heads to the assigned table he was told to go to.

There he is. It's actually him, Shuji would know him anywhere.]

[They're really good gifts, and Shuji appreciates all of them. The ink gets put in a drawer in case he ever gets Koutarou's thing with the ink healing, the giftcard will get used when he figures out what he wants to buy, and the journals will be super useful when he fills up the ones he's currently in the middle of.

[He's just put his phone away in his pocket when Shuji twitches the curtain aside, and it's a good thing, too. The second he catches sight of the shock of Shuji's hair out of the corner of his eye, he glances up at the window, and his focused expression shifts into a sideways smile. He waves.]

[It's really good to be home, finally.]

[From the window, Mista looks pretty okay. When his key turns in the lock and he steps through the door into his apartment and Shuji gets a chance to look at him close up, he looks . . . less okay. Not terrible, but he's just a little bit messed up. There's a heavy bruise on his jaw, scratches across his face and hands and every inch of exposed skin on him; his knuckles are scuffed and bloody, although not still actively bleeding, because it's been long enough since he had to hit something.]

[He doesn't really look like he cares, though. He locks the door behind him and lets himself instantly forget about the outside world.]

[Shuji isn't looking much better, truth be told.

His jacket and his wig are long gone - wig fell off somewhere, jacket was used as a bandage. The rest of his clothes are torn, and the missing fabric over one knee reveals a nasty bruise there. His face is scratched and there are cuts on his hands that have only gotten the barest level of treatment, courtesy of a first aid kit.

Without a doubt, it's the worst state Mista has ever seen Shuji in - Shuji, who won't let himself be seen in public if he's not immaculate.

That's not important right now. Because once Mista's inside, Shuji clings to him in the tightest hug he can manage right now.]

[There is one thing and one thing only better than sleeping in when there's someone else in your bed, and that is: getting to see that someone's sleepy face smile in surprise, eating a hot breakfast with them, and then falling back to sleep.]

[This is the first time Mista's made the obvious choice, but it won't be the last. Pancakes and bacon and orange juice and fresh coffee--not fancy, but it smells good, and anything's tasty when you don't have to get out of bed for it.]

[He sets the little tray down on the nightstand on his side of the bed, half-heartedly pondering how both sides used to be his and he kind of likes it better this way. Sitting on the edge of the mattress, he leans over and brushes Shuji's hair out of his face.]

[Shuji hadn't been sure about sleeping in the same bed as Mista to begin with - not because he thought he wouldn't like it, but because he thought he'd like it too much. But Mista had said 'either we're sharing the bed or I'm sleeping on the couch' and that had been that.

Shuji is not a morning person, and while he'd stirred a little when Mista got out of bed, groping around for his sudden loss of warmth, it's only when Mista speaks to him that he properly wakes up.]

Mmm... Morning, Mista, I- Uh?

Aww, that's cute...

Georgia Parva is actually Jorunna Parva, and she's a sea slug. During the bingo thing, Ryoji and I went out to the shore and caught some ladybugs there, and he also pointed Georgia out to me while we were there. He'd told me before he'd show me a sea hare, and I expected them to be a little more rabbit-like, but she's really cute and soft to pet.

We used to visit her together, sometimes.

[Things are finally calming down, which is awesome. It's been a really long couple of weeks, even though he wasn't on one of the teams that was stranded out in the city or having to fight monsters. He's felt in his element in a really weird way, but at the same time it's good to get back to normal. He doesn't want all of that to become his normal. He doesn't want to be a hero 24/7, as fun as it is sometimes.]

[Things have started to even out now. Work has a rhythm again now that Majima's back full-time, and Mista feels more confident than ever in his ability to handle this job even when it's rocky (or when life outside the club is rocky). And home--]

[Home is great. It finally feels like a home, where before it was just an apartment with a bed that he slept in and a kitchen that he always felt was a little too small. But with Shuji there, something's always happening. Someone's always smiling, and he's always got someone there to lean on if he needs it.]

[He doesn't want it to end. He doesn't think it will end, just assumes this is a permanent arrangement and doesn't think to question it. It feels so natural, right? Which means he's completely blindsided when he comes home from work one day and finds Shuji in the bathroom, gathering up his things.]

[He doesn't look upset so much as confused. Like: why is there an empty spot where Shuji's conditioner is supposed to sit on the edge of the tub? That doesn't make any sense. That's the conditioner spot.]

[Life being calmer now is great. Shuji appreciates being able to step outside without worrying about being attacked by a monster. Everyone who suddenly disappeared is back. Things are going back to normal.

...So, naturally that means Shuji should go back home. To his parents' house over the summer and then back to the dorms, where he hates being the oldest one there. That's his 'normal'.]

Though the situation was entirely strange to her, a part of her heart still danced with excitement at the prospects of the sorts of people she would get to know now that her view of the world was wholly different than it had been just a few short weeks ago. The establishment itself wasn't new to her, but now she couldn't help but look at everything with a more critical eye.

What else was hiding, she wondered? And, more importantly, how was she supposed to find Shuji?]
