[Felicia giggled at the wry commentary.]

And no one died of one or two bites of kale. I won't ask much, just that you give it a try before you knock it.

You say that, but I'm going to need you to prove it in front of witnesses.

[He's not going to die of mysterious causes, at least.]

Well, you've made darn sure there's plenty of witnesses around.

[She gestured toward the already packed bar, a teasing grin lighting up her face.]

Where to? You can pick whichever spot you think will have the most people watching us!

[So, right in the middle of the bar? Got it. Shuji pulls a chair out for her like a gentleman.]

Here you are, miss.

Oh, for me?

[She plays right along, falling into the role of a polite lady for the entire world to see. Delicately, she smoothed out the length of her long tunic and took her seat as if they weren't in a bar in town but some high end, upscale restaurant that was well outside of both of their combined budgets.]

Thank you kindly, sir. The view is lovely!

[Felicia will play along with Shuji's level of dorkery, it seems. Shuji stifles a laugh as he takes his own seat next to her.]

Would madam care for something to drink?

[This level of dorkery was always fun-- how could Felicia not play? She hid a giggle behind her hands and looked up at him with bright eyes.]

Only if the good sir is getting one as well. It'd be lonely to drink otherwise.

Of course, of course. Sir, I request a Tequila Mockingbird.

[Shuji's coworker is probably trying not to laugh at them.]

[He can laugh; it's utterly ridiculous!]

Oh, that sounds good!

[Felicia said, eyes shining in delight at the pun.]

Can the lady have one of those, too?

["Two Tequila Mockingbirds for sir and madam."

Once they're given their drinks, Shuji raises his glass.]

A toast to your health.

[Which is the only reason why anyone eats kale to begin with.]

[And Felicia, all smiles, raises her glass in turn.]

And to your continued good health, my friend.

[After all, wasn't that why they were even here?]

[Shuji clinks his glass with hers before taking a sip of tequila. It's stronger than she might expect, but he's a decently heavy drinker and doesn't cough or anything.]

Is it to your tastes, madam?

[Her brows shot up in surprise at the strength of the mix, but she found it enjoyable no less.]

It's something I'm sure Atticus Finch would approve of!

Most excellent. And to accompany the drinks, shall we have a selection of kale chips?

[Might as well get on with it.]

[Smiling, Felicia brought up the pastry box and opened it up for him to peer inside. Within the pristine walls were neat packages of kale chips precisely labelled with the different flavors, so Shuji could pick and choose as he pleased]

Of course. I've got several flavors made here, ranging from the usual salt and pepper variety to ranch to even some spicier flavors if you're feeling more adventurous. Which do you prefer to start with?

Let's start with salt and pepper and then branch out from there.

[No reason to start exciting and end up with boring.

Shuji picks up a salt and pepper chip and, after only a moment's hesitation, takes a bite of it.]

Excellent place to start, good sir. Atticus would be proud of your restraint!

[As Shuji takes a bite, he'll be met with a chip that crumbles as delicately as tissue paper on his tongue. The salted and peppery flavors are there but not overwhelming, but it's still undeniably kale.

Crisped, roasted kale. Not soggy, steamed, wilted kale that he's likely familiar with.]

[Shuji chews thoughtfully for a second, though it's probably obvious by his expression that he doesn't hate it.]

...This actually isn't that bad?

[Don't sound so surprised...]

[She looked at him with actual surprise.]

You didn't think you were really going to die, did you?

No, but... I was pretty confident that it was going to taste terrible or at least mediocre...

So you doubted how good properly cooked lettuces can be?

[Felicia scooted closer, a very serious look in her eyes.]
