[They both probably should shower. They've been outside for what was apparently days, even though it doesn't seem like that would be possible. Shuji has grass stains on his pants from tripping while trying to avoid a monster.

He's not considering that now. It's not important.]

Of course you can. I'm never going to say no to that.

[The idea of rejecting a kiss from Mista is ridiculous.]

[His relief is immediately palpable. He wasn't exaggerating about how much he's been thinking about this; when he wasn't running from monsters, he was thinking about how really, he could have and maybe should have kissed Shuji before they got separated. He was so close.]

[This, when he leans in and presses his lips to Shuji's, is the kiss he thought of when he came in the door and saw Shuji again, though. It's still sweet and not so long, but there's feeling behind it that he isn't sure he has the words to express--relief, gratitude, and the enormous love he feels for Shuji.]

[And while words are not his strong suit necessarily, if there's one thing Mista is good at, it's physical affection. He's a good kisser, and he's been thinking about this one for a while.]

[Mista is a good kisser. Shuji would think that Mista's kisses were miracles whether or not he was good at them, to be honest.

It's his turn to be stunned for a second, even when Mista pulls away.]

...You're wonderful. You know that?

[It's important that Mista knows that. Shuji will remind him as often as it takes.]

[He never knows what to say when Shuji says stuff like that. Someday he'll realize it's the same as when the situation's reversed, when Shuji doesn't know what to say in his turn--but for now it just leaves him kind of flustered and sheepish.]

I--if you say so. Then I guess I believe it.

[He'll probably forget in under a minute. He's too busy staring at Shuji to think, honestly.]

[It's hard for them to understand that they have an equal level of ridiculous dokis for each other.]

You'd better, because it's true. I have never lied to you, ever, about anything.

...Okay no, one time you asked me when that paper I was supposed to be working on was due and I said two weeks and it was actually due in two days. But that was the only time.

[And Mista might have made him go work on it instead of hang out with him!!]

You what?

[Okay, he wants to chastise Shuji for this, and he's trying, but mostly he's failing. Because he's grinning. Because he's pretty sure the reason Shuji lied was because he wanted to hang out, and that's ridiculously cute.]

You can't do that kinda stuff, Shuji, you gotta do your work, it's way more important than me. And anyway, if you get it done ahead of time you get to hang with me more. Right? That's a pretty good reward.

[Especially since they can kiss now, but also just in general.]

Excuse me, you are way more important than any paper I've written for any class. That's not up for debate.

...But hanging with you is a great reward, so I guess I have to put more effort in now.

[He was putting in effort before! Just not with 'kissing Mista' as his goal.]

Okay, but I don't have a deadline. I'm always gonna be around. And you always get an A with me anyway.

[That is one of the worst lines in history? Holy shit. Meanwhile, there's a sudden moment of realization and Mista looks abruptly incredibly disappointed.]

Damn. I just realized I can't take you out properly if there's monsters rampaging. What the fuck! That's so inconvenient, I wanna woo you finally and I can't because of monsters?

That's dumb. Monsters are dumb. But I can cook for you a lot, so that's something?

[He's not a great cook, but he'll manage with things from a box and recipes on the internet that look easy.]

. . . Yeah, I'd like that a lot, honestly. But--

[How to explain it. He takes both of Shuji's hands in his and thinks for a moment, trying to line his words up right.]

I wanna take you out to dinner. Do it right. I wanna take you dancing, and on adventures, I want to show you stuff you haven't seen before and I wanna learn how you see this city different from me by walking around in it with you. I wanna do ordinary stuff with you out there like we usually do, except we get to hold hands now.

I don't know. I guess I wanna sweep you off your feet. I wanna spoil you so much you feel what I see when I look at you.

[Hearing Mista say that he wants to spoil him, wants to learn more about him, wants to spend more time with him - the ordinary and the adventures - makes Shuji feels so warm that he might melt.]

We'll do all that. We just can't do it right now. When the monsters are gone, when things calm down, we'll go dancing.

[Shuji can hardly wait.]

[Well. Impatient as he is, hearing that common sense calms Mista down a bit. He still doesn't want to wait, but he will, because they'll get there eventually.]

Okay. When the monsters are gone, we'll go dancing.

. . . Maybe in the meantime, we can do a living room date or something. I'll bring us some wine and you can make dinner and we can hang out here watching movies or playing games or, I don't know, whatever you want.

Dinner and a movie sounds great to me. Anyway, we can talk more than we could if we actually went out, and there's no gum stuck to your couch, so it's better.

[He's not complaining about this at all. It's more than enough for him right now.]

Yeah, that's true. Plus if you're next to me on the couch instead of in the next theater seat over, it's easier for me to do this number.

[And lo, Mista demonstrates the super-casual stretch and settle your arm over your date's shoulder totally by accident maneuver.]

[Flawless execution. Shuji mentally gives it ten out of ten as he scoots a little closer to Mista.]

And I don't think we're going to be kicked out of your living room for PDA.

[Oh, sweet. He didn't think Shuji was going to actually indulge that. But Shuji indulges a lot of his stupid bullshit, he reflects as he pulls Shuji close.]

[Plus there's a good point there that he hadn't considered. He ponders it for a moment.]

Okay, I'm starting to get behind this concept in a serious way.

Me too. Even when we can go out safely again, we can still do at-home dates when we want to.

[They'll just have the option of doing whatever they want.]

When we don't wanna get kicked out of theaters.

[He doesn't ever want that, but sometimes he gets kicked out anyway because he has a lot of strong movie opinions, okay.]

Or when we just want to be affectionate... no, wait, that's all the time for me.

[He didn't think this through??]

. . . Oh my god. You're so cute.

[Mista is literally dying a little bit over this. He spends a few moments thinking about how much he wishes he could kiss Shuji right now before realizing, hey, he can do that thing. So he does.]

[Yep. Still awesome. So he does it again. And a third time, all in quick succession, for a total of five kisses, not four.]

[We wouldn't want to ruin kisses with the number four.

By the time Mista's done kissing him, Shuji looks dazed, a blush having settled on his face during the first kiss and just gotten worse afterwards.]

...I should be saying that to you...

Well. You can if you want to.

[Even if, objectively speaking, Shuji is the cutest. Shuji gets all red when he's kissed. Mista's going to take a lot of notes on this.]

[And then--he ponders following up and taking the risk of using the word he's still a little shy of. Sure, it's not a guarantee that it won't be embarrassing, but he really wants to.]

You can call your boyfriend cute whenever you want. Right?

[Every time Shuji thinks, okay, I'm getting used to Mista flustering me like this, I'm going to calm down now, Mista does or says something else wonderful.

And this is the most wonderful thing he could possibly say.

Shuji squeaks hearing it - he'd like to call the noise something less embarrassing but he can't - before his smile grows so wide that it actually does hurt.]

I can! I will! My boyfriend Mista is the cutest person on the planet!

[My boyfriend, Mista. He could die happy. Or just snuggle into Mista's shoulder some more.]

[No. Too cute. This is too much. What the hell is he supposed to do to recover from this?]

Shuji--

[Ugh. Shuji is so soft and cuddly and warm and he squeaked. Mista kisses him on the cheek, because that's what he can reach first.]

I'm really happy, Shuji.

Me too.

[He might never stop smiling at this rate. Certainly not if Mista keeps kissing him.]

Right now I feel like things are going to be okay.
