Week 7, Saturday, post-trial: Waver.

['Not here' means 'we can kiss in your room', right? Right. But even Dazai knows there are a few things that he should probably talk about, and if he kisses Waver the second he walks in he'll never stop.]

So, I don't know where you live, but I don't take up much space. I can sleep on the floor! I'm used to it. And I don't have many needs aside from a little bit of food and some ink if I get injured, so - so I won't be a bother, I promise!

[Other than being a bother by being an over-affectionate Dazai, but Waver already knows about that.]

[ waver doesn't mind the kisses at all, but once dazai starts babbling, he immediately feels a headache coming on.

he pulls back, but not too much. just enough for dazai to see waver's confused expression ]

What about you, Dazai? You're... you're a spirit, basically. Are you sure that you can do this? Besides, my life is not an easy one. It's not something I'd like to rope you into. I deal with ridiculous aristocrats and foolish students on the daily. If the Clock Tower learns about you, god knows what they would want to do to you and I probably wouldn't have enough power to stop it.

[ the confusion shifts into something more like...concern. the last thing he wants is for dazai to be involved in the magi society that causes him so many headaches and ulcers. ]

I'm the most foolish student of all, and I've had to deal with ridiculous aristocrats more than anyone wants to. [His family was new money.] I already fight monsters regularly, so if a vampire or something tries to eat you I'll be able to help, if only a little.

And... leaving you behind would be worse than anything that anyone else could do to me.

[Dissect him, torture him, anything - he'll risk that to keep Waver in his life.]

Ridiculous aristocrats that do magecraft. It's a step up or two in its danger.

[ but he sighs. it seems that there's no dissuading dazai from doing this...and waver doesn't want him to go either.

however, there is something else in his mind. ]

I want to participate in a war in order to see my friend again. It'll be soon, they say...so I'm doing everything I can to get what I need. I could very well die there, Dazai.

Then you could use my help more than ever.

[It's not such a bad thing to risk your life by the side of someone you love.]

...But if you're still concerned that you're asking too much of me, can I ask you a favor in return?

I'd rather not put you at risk...

[ but the moment dazai asks for a favor, waver tilts his head slightly. ]

When we're in private, when it's just us... Do you think you could call me Shuji?

[Dazai is more than just his pen name. It's who he is, it's who he's remembered as. The works that carry his legacy carry that name, and it's the name he prefers to be called.

...But from a select few people, the reminder of his existence as 'Shuji', as a person outside of his work as an author... would bring a tinge of joy to his heart.]

Shuji? Shuji Tsushima?

[ well...that's a surprise. waver looks at him blankly for a moment, as if wondering why dazai would prefer that over his pen name. considering his history, too...

ah, he won't question it. if anything, he feels a bit honored to be trusted with something like this. so he nods, his face red. ]

I...if you don't mind. Then I'd like that.

It would make me happy.

[Waver is the only person here he shares that name with. Not even Evan knows.

After Waver told him to use his own name... it seems only appropriate.]

So we're both agreed that I'm coming with you?

It seems like I don't have much say on that.

[ but...waver's not unhappy with it either. ]

You're gonna have to help me clean, then. And... [ his voice trails off, frowning ] I might bring someone else with us...if he agrees to it. Ion-- the one that wasn't Francis' partner. He may have some other plans, though, so that's not set in stone.

I don't mind cleaning for you. And I'll learn to cook.

[At least he's not as bad as some of the people here.]

I don't dislike that Ion, so I don't mind if you bring him along, but please mention that I'll be coming so it isn't a surprise.
